one of the holy grail of the minimal synth and one of the most obscure musical projects ever produced in italy is finally reissued on mannequin records. originally released in 1981 by broadbean records, a sub-label of lm records, flo & andrew only release take suicide was home-recorded and home-mixed by the duo in bologna, using early drum machines like the boss dr-55 and the korg kr-55, analog synthesizers, guitar, saxophone, tape loops. flo & andrew music is truly unique and exemplifies the fact that limitation can be the perfect source for creativity. the title-track and to committ suicid’ travel through contort and nervous synth sounds and loops, taking somehow inspiration from the no wave heroes, while japanese girls is nothing less than a beautiful minimal electronics track in the mythology of the futuristic rise of japanese country. recently (re)discovered, ‘take suicide’ is a milestone of the european minimal synth singles and is not really a coincidence that a young generations of producers take it as inspiration (you can see take suicide floating in the tracklist of artists as helena hauff and ngly). another must have in your collection / record bag! mastering by ruud 66.

back in the days at the west-saxon highlands there was a missile, which marked the starting point. when credit 00 saw the legendary rocket rise on tetris’ final screen, it was the first time he became aware of electronic music at all. since then it actually hasn’t changed that much. he keeps pushing that buttons that belong to the impressive pool of music machines towered up next to his bed. after moving to dresden in 2000 to study fine arts, his passion for synthesizers and drum machines got nurtured through visits of dresden’s club-canalisation. he quickly made himself a name as a dj, who is just doing his own thing and got popular for that reason. as a part of the idealfun-crew he started hosting parties always in the twilight zone between legal and illegal. this led to “robo dance”, dresden’s only and (also for some other reasons) best electro club night featuring guests like dmx krew, luke eargoogle or imatran voima. the track credit made with randy barracuda of imatran voima has probably been created some time after the show. apparently, randy was not in good shape anymore and so “lebensraum” unmistakably bears credit’s hallmarks. for his own music he’s inspired by cannibal movies, number theory and birds. still, his music is not easy to pigeonhole. after all, he loves synth wave, electro, afro, kraut, kosmische, disco, italo, miami bass and other proto stuff – a lot of machine music.

zarkoff (sasa rajkovic) is croatian musician and sound engineer that has been busy making proper sound of dozens labels and doing his own music last ten years. genre could be described as dark electronics, somewhere between techno and synth wave, but if there is something that makes him unique, it s his powerfull and distinctive voice. sasa is also member of ebm-ish project sumerian fleet, having releases on mighty dark entries or creme organization, where we took the opportunity and asked his colleague, legendary mr. pauli to enrich this 12inch with proper west coast style remix.

jamie roberts is no stranger to the more experimental tenets of the techno genre, and much of the british artist’s output of late has hinted at more leftfield leanings. a recent return to will bankhead’s trilogy tapes imprint saw a brace of meditative, post-detroit workouts - employing the same heady, hardware aesthetic as much of his work on ternesc - though at a drastically reduced tempo. it’s this same willingness to break down perceptions regarding his own music that marks walk type – roberts’ debut on the avian label, as a notable chapter in the artist’s discography.

rothmans turn to debutant producer dawn again, who strides onto the football-focused label with a confident grip of otherworldly hardware jams. as is customary on the label, the mood takes on a laid back approach to four to the floor grooves, with -coloured pens- kicking off proceedings on a soaring bed of psyched-out house optimism. while -the italian- may be moodier in its demeanour, it s still just as mellow in its delivery, capitalising on alluring wave synths and reverb swells to great effect. -plain of jars- takes a trippier direction with its bubbling fx and bongo-powered beatdown, and then -lavender- switches things up with a rolling breakbeat undercarriage and plush lead lines on top.

different worlds music group/fat beats are thrilled to announce the lp and cassette release of the latest album from skizz (dj skizz), “cruise control,” which is skizz’s 2nd official producer-album. over the last couple years, skizz has been working extensively with your old droog, both producing and mixing his music, helping to propel the career of the young mc from coney island. he has also been touring with droog, making beats for other noteworthy artists, and helping start a new label, different worlds music group. this will be the 2nd official release from dwmg, with the first being timeless truth’s critically acclaimed “cold wave” album released this past february. “cruise control is a progression for me sonically,” says skizz. “this album takes you from where b.q.e. left off- it’s still that raw boom-bap, but this album is a bit more laid-back and melodious. it just feels good, like you’re cruising with your lady and the cool breeze is blowing through your hair!” skizz recruited a mix of veteran og mcs (o.c., planet asia, roc marciano, evidence, etc) as well as up-and-comers (your old droog, conway, hus kingpin, da villins etc.) to provide a sonically cohesive album that is set to be the official hip-hop soundtrack for the summer of ’16.
